Thanks for visiting my blog! Let me introduce myself…

Hubby and Me

Hubby and Me

My name is Ann Tatum. I’m married and have 2 daughters, a son-in-law, and a grandbaby.  We are a creative family. My husband is a musician and both girls are musical and artistic. And, we come from a long line of ‘pack rats’. I’ve always loved being creative. My mom was an art major, and it seems like we were always creating something out of nothing. That tradition has continued. I still love to create and use whatever I can find. I like mixing old rust with shiny bling! I was a stay-at-home mom when my girls were young. We had more time than money so the tradition of making something out of nothing continued. We homeschooled our girls and started going to library book sales to supplement our love of reading. I found copies of hard-to-find books from our library, and I knew there were others looking for these same books. So I started selling books on Ebay and did that for over 6 years. While at book sales, I would often see books that had a wonderful ‘look’ to them, but were falling apart. I loved the vintage look of the text and illustrations, so I would buy them even in bad condition. I started crafting with them and then put together vintage paper and fabric packs and sold them on Etsy for other crafters.

From paper crafting, I moved into mixed media and then into jewelry where I seem to have found my niche.  I use my pack-rat tendencies to save any little thing that catches my eye, and they are just waiting for inspiration to strike. I also used my love of creating to make vintage-inspired jewelry and mixed-media artwork. I currently sell in an Etsy shop called Duct Tape And Denim and sell at a local once-a-month shop here in California called Room With A Past.  I also have a Facebook page with lots of photos of what I’m currently up to.  I love to do custom and wholesale orders.  Just contact me and leave your email address, and I’ll send you a wholesale price list.

A few years ago, I also went back to work in an office, but I still love home and creating the most. I love my family, making jewelry, paper crafts, crochet, cooking, hiking, & a little gardening. You’ll hear all about those on this blog. I also want to learn more about photography & Photoshop. Please leave me a comment.  I love hearing from you — both what you like and what you don’t like.  And thanks again for visiting my blog!

  1. Hi! First of all, I absolutely love your work. I have a dog tag that belonged to my father that I have been wanting to turn into a bracelet ever since his death a couple of years ago. I came across your website and love your artistic and vintage designs. This dog tag is pretty much all I have of my fathers except for my wonderful memories, that are priceless. Therefore, I have been terrified to do anything with it, but tired of it sitting in a drawer. I really would like to turn it into a bracelet that I could wear on a daily basis. Is it possible for you to design a bracelet for me? If so, I could fed ex the tag to you. Let me know your thoughts. Thank you!!

  2. Hello Ann! So nice to meet you and learn more about you and “Duct Tape & Denim” 🙂 I’ve been enjoying your creations for a few months, now and hope to one day be able to purchase one of your treasures for myself – and for gifts. I also wanted to say that I really like what you’ve been doing with your wooden display pieces – so lovely and in my favorite colors!

Blessings to you and your family —

  3. Dear Ms. Ann,

I love your jewelry box in Cece Caldwell Turquoise! Can you tell me which color paint or stain you used underneath? I would love to re-create this look for friend!

    Thank you,
    Ms. Luila 🙂
Ps. I love your photography in your photo gallery

    • Send me an email – ducttapeanddenimbyann@gmail.com – and let me know where you’re shop is located, & the name of you’re shop. I try not to sell to two shops in the same town, or at least close together. Remind me what you’re interested in and I’ll get prices for you.

Let me know if you have a Facebook page too. I like to advertise for shops selling my jewelry too.

Thanks! Looking forward to working with you.

      Ann
